What is Reiki?

Reiki is a traditional Japanese healing technique developed by Makao Usui in the 1920s. He received Reiki during a mystical experience while fasting and praying for 21 days on Mount Kumara. This led to the development of the Usui Reiki method, which focuses on the concept of Universal Life Force energy, with "Rei" representing Universal and "Ki" translating to Life Force energy.

Reiki is a gentle, holistic healing method that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It can be administered in person or remotely, with the individual remaining fully clothed, only removing their shoes before lying on the massage table. In-person sessions typically involve gentle hand placements on or above the body.

For the Usui Reiki method, the Reiki energy is activated through several symbols developed by Makao Usui for physical, emotional, and distance healing.

The practitioner will channel this energy to the person receiving Reiki.
